Stoichiometry Lab

Write this lab in your notebook.

Purpose: To determine the relationship between actual yield and a balanced equation.

Equipment:
Evaporating dish

Reagents:
Sodium Carbonate
Hydrochloric acid

Procedure: Mix 2 grams sodium carbonate with hydrochloric acid. Evaporate the water. Mass product.

Data:

Calculations:
Write the reaction and balance. The products are carbon dioxide, water and sodium chloride.
Determine moles of sodium carbonate used, and sodium chloride produced. Then determine the theoretical yield of sodium chloride based off the balanced equation.

Conclusion: Determine percent yieild and account for errors.
